Out of the studio and taking it tot he street, beach or park
The street and other outside environments offer up interesting settings to enhance a portrait shot. Its a popular choice for pre-wedding photoshoots as well as wedding photography, as your not usually in the studio for these events and you can have a lot of fun incorporating the environment into an image by using natural backdrops such as leafy walls, sunsets, as well as the ocean and parks.
You get what you are given on the day with the location and the lighting, so you have to adapt to it and sometimes adapt it with diffusers or lighting which can be used for your advantage! Also the monsoon in Indonesia is relentless, for some of the shots below we were shooting in between downpours!

| Under an awning. making the most of the diffused light. |
I started looking for reflected and diffused light as I didn't want harsh shadows on my client. Calypso had never had a photoshoot before and was a tad nervous! But once she relaxed and followed my instructions for posing we got some nice shots. For the photo Below I stood on the road waiting for times with no cars! It was overcast and still raining slightly!

We amped up the posing once Calypso relaxed and moved more into location type poses which would be used for pre-wedding. Still overcast but the diffused light was awesome in this abandoned area of the shopping district in Kuta Bali! The rain and choice of area kept the onlookers away also, apart from the friendly security who tried to join in the shoot!

Once my client relaxed we added some props and amped up the posing direction. Again under an awning taking advantage of an interesting background and the diffused light on an overcast day filtering into the area!
