Fine Art Portraits!

FINE ART PORTRAITS

with

Marion Ardana Portrait

Do you wonder if you are worthy of the subject matter of a fine art portrait? Influenced by the fine art  masters, often with dramatic lighting, focused painterly subject matter and printed large on fine art paper. This is a celebration of self to place as centre stage in your house or office. Its a statement that says I am WORTHY! I am WORTHY of the subject matter of a fine art portrait!

In this day and age of everything becoming digital I'm taking my photography back to beautiful real images that can be  appreciated and exist in the now and become a lasting legacy. Exquisite portraits that are printed on lustre or fine art photographic paper and beautifully mounted ready for an ornate gilded frame and to take centre stage as a statement of just how worthy you are and the value you put on your family.  I get very excited about my printed images. I can see the value in them for each family.

I love to photograph people and bring out something within that can be expressed. An expression of self in a fine art print is something that can be treasured for now and by the generations to come. Apart from my usual contemporary portrait photography I also like to push the boundaries and experiment with props, backgrounds accessories, lighting etc. in an attempt to achieve a portrait which has a painterly feel. A classic which will stand the test of time without dating. Old masters paintings are one such influence with my fine art portraiture. Achieved through posing, aperture control, costume, background and photoshop to give a painterly feel.

This way of working is experimental and exciting because you never know what you are going to end up with. I also paint on canvas so for me this is just another medium to achieve a creative  art work. I get just as excited with the juxtaposition of elements bouncing off each other such as  light, shade, form, texture, structure, line etc. Of course with a portrait we have mood, feeling and connection all adding into the mix. I also take into consideration what the client wants and how they want to be photographed. What they want to express about themselves. This is why I spend time consulting with the client to gain an understand which will influence the general direction of the shoot. We go through the visualisation of this together- props, wardrobe, etc. I am also open to sourcing the  location and a stylist for more elaborate settings and wardrobe. Your imagination is the only limit!

As well as setting up the shoot and manipulating the camera settings I take the work into Photoshop to further achieve my vision for the artwork. I love this stage, its so creative even though it can be technical and time consuming. Im in my element. I work with layers, textures and filters such as Alien Skin, Often adding a subtle light leak to soften the image. I prefer to use my own textures as Alien skin textures are too obvious, always rubbing back texture off the body and face. Keeping this subtle also. Achieving the end result of an image that is unique, beautiful, timeless and creative.

A fine art portrait isn't something you just leave as a digital, lost on your computer. To be appreciated to its fullest this portrait should be printed. Beautiful printed portraits are back! Its exciting. I love to see a fine art  portrait printed. It makes my heart sing!
